Kathryn is a dedicated and effective Attorney, immersed in the fast-moving world of brand protection. She operates a comprehensive Trade Mark Law practice, handling every aspect from trade mark clearance and registration to contentious opposition and cancellation proceedings and appearing as instructing counsel in litigation both at the Supreme Court and Appellate levels. She can also be depended on to provide clear and strategic advice in complex trade mark matters. 


On the commercial side, Kathryn advises on and prepares agreements concerning the use and commercialization of trade marks and other intellectual property, such as merchandising agreements, co-branding agreements, co-existence agreements, licences and assignments.


In the fields of Copyright and Design Law, she has considerable experience advising on matters of validity, infringement and enforcement, as well as the procedural aspects of obtaining or invalidating registered copyrights and designs. 


Kathryn’s enthusiasm for her practice area sees her heavily involved in a number of Intellectual Property communities. She has been a member of the International Trademark Association (INTA) since 2008 and has actively served in INTA Leadership Committees since 2016, including 4 years as co-chair of the Latin American & Caribbean Sub-Committee of the INTA Bulletin. She is a longstanding member of the Intellectual Property Sub-Committee of the Jamaica Bar Association and the Intellectual Property Caribbean Association (IPCA).

 
Since 2013, Kathryn has been consistently ranked in her individual capacity among "The World’s Leading Trademark Professionals" by The World Trademark Review 1000. She is also ranked as an "IP Star" by Managing Intellectual Property. 


Kathryn holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons.) from the University of the West Indies and graduated from the Norman Manley Law School in 2004 obtaining her Legal Education Certificate.

Outside of the IP sphere, Kathryn serves on the board of the Jamaica Cancer Society as Secretary. Her interests include international travel, culinary adventures of any kind and recreational reading. She is a wife and mother to two young daughters.
